Abrasive Wheels

½ Day Training Course

This course is designed to train delegates in safe selection, mounting and working practices when using abrasive wheels, in accordance with the relevant regulations and guidance.

This course embraces the requirements under The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98) and HASWA 1974. Covering selection, mounting and the safe working practices when using abrasive wheels. The machines discussed are the angle grinder, chop saw, petrol cutter (Stihl Saw) and bench grinders.

Syllabus

  • Legislation surrounding Abrasive Wheels (PUWER 1998, HASAWA 1974)

  • Identifying risks from working with Abrasive Wheels

  • Wheel types 1, 27, 41 & 42 (markings and specification)

  • Inspection of equipment

  • Safe use of equipment with a wheel mounting practical

  • Safe storage and transportation
